PROJECT TITLE: Intelligent Hand Gripper ˇV An Exerciser to help recover from hand dysfunction

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Introduction: (Maximum 100 words) Hand dysfunction is a major problem of stroke survivors affecting their independence in performing daily activities. There is no equipment available in the market specific for the training of hand function. The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences of the PolyU has developed an Intelligent Hand Gripper. By incorporating with computer games and visual feedback, the strength of the power and pinch hand grips can be trained. This exerciser can also assess and monitor progress of patients. An additional option for internet connection will be available to provide data storage and data analysis. When plugged into the internet, patientˇ¦s performance can be monitored and assessed by a physiotherapist in the tele-rehabilitation centre, while instantaneous feedback can be provided to the patient.
