PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Introduction:
(Maximum 100 words) A low-cost, high-performance (accuracy 0.001mm,
2.5G acceleration) two-dimensional direct-drive motion system has
been invented. The motor has very little mechanical parts; therefore
mechanical alignment, maintenance, and fabrication costs are
minimized. This is a big improvement over the present technology,
which uses highly expensive and highly complicated mechanical
slides, stacked on top of each other to form an X-Y table. The motor
will have significant impact on the manufacturing industry. The
manufacturing cost of many electronic products can be made cheaper
when the machineries that produce them can be purchased and operated
