PROJECT TITLE: Tissue Ultrasound
Palpation System |
|
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Introduction:
Traditionally, the stiffness of human soft tissue is qualitatively
assessed by menas of palpation, i.e. one has to feel subjectively
with fingers. this lacks scientific backing and cannot be proven
quantitatively. This novel Tiisue Ultrasound Palpation Systems (TUPS) developed by the PolyU is a world leading Objective Tissue
Tester. It consists of a finger-sized probe with an ultrasound
transducer and a load sensor. Special features and advantages: -
Provide an objective and quantative assessment of body tissues - Can
be used on different body locations. Applications: - Stiffness
measurement of residual limb tissue of amputees in quantitative
prosthetic socket design - Assessment of diabetic foot tissue -
Assessment of post-radiotherapy neck tissues fibrosis - Assessment
of biomechanical propertise of articular cartilage - Assessment of
burn and surgical scar tissues |
