PROJECT TITLE: An
Intelligence-Enhanced System For Early Detection Of Idiopathic
Scoliosis In Chest Radiography |
|
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Introduction:
(Maximum 100 words) Idiopathic scoliosis occurs primarily among
adolescent children. This is an intelligent-enhanced system that can
detect and classify chest images with scoliosis based on image
content without human intervention. When there is large volume of
image data, detection of scoliosis by human eyes would be very
tedious and costly. This system can read in the image files
(including DICOM format) in the image storage server and
automatically classifies the image with scoliosis and retrieves the
images to a designated destination. The clinician can then verify
the result and thus would save a lot of times in scrutinizing all
images. Special Features and Advantages: (Maximum 50 words) 1 Early
detection of idiopathic scoliosis 2 Monitoring of the progress and
extent of scoliosis 3 Detection of the severity of scoliosis based
on x-ray chest images and without taking further whole-spine x-rays
reducing radiation dose 4 Automatic extraction of possible
scoliostic images from any image database without human intervention
Application(s): (Maximum 50 words) 1) Provision of an auto-alert of
scoliosis for medical practitioners 2) An automatic screening device
for scoliosis in any health centre based on chest images only 3)
Useful for monitoring of idiopathic scoliosis in different remote
sites |
