PROJECT
TITLE: DSL AFE Development
|
|
PROJECT
DESCRIPTION:
The analog front-end (AFE) provides the critical
interface between the phone lines and the digital
signal processing unit in a DSL modem. ASTRI's DSL
technology development exploits cross-talk
cancellation across multiple lines to achieve
significant improvements in the resulting data rate.
The use of digital duplexing especially places
stringent requirements on the AFE by demanding higher
linearity and lower noise performances for the AFE
codec design. The performance of the ADC plays a
critical role in achieving the data rate predicted by
ASTRI's system simulations. We improved the speed,
linearity and noise performance of existing solutions
while keeping the power consumption low enough for the
eventual large scale deployments. The successful
integration of ASTRI's high performance ADC fully
exploits the available spectrum of the copper phone
lines and the cross-talk cancellation capabilities
using DSP techniques.
