PROJECT TITLE: Research and Development of Herbal Extract for Anti-diabetic Drug & Health Food

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This project aims to develop a health supplement / food for China, Hong Kong and international markets with an herbal extract from a raw herb which has been used as food supplement for over 700 years. In vivo model showed the herbal extract can exert anti-diabetic (lowering blood glucose) activities in animals. In addition, a novel extraction process has been developed to extract active components of the raw herb, and quality control methodology and chemical standards (markers) for raw herbs have been established and its cultivation base (compliant to GAP guidelines) has also been identified.
