PROJECT TITLE: A High Performance Planar Motor
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A High Performance Planar Motor Low cost solution for the machineries manufacturing industry A low-cost, high performance, high precision (1 micron), rapid response(2.5 G acceleration) two dimensional direct-drive motion system has been invented by PolyU. The motor has minimal mechanical parts, therefore mechanical alignment, maintenance and fabrication costs are minimized. This is a major improvement over present technology in the market, which uses highly expensive and complicated mechanical slides, stacked on top of each other to form an X-Y table. The motor will have significant impact on the manufacturing industry. The manufacturing cost of many precision and quality products can be made cheaper when the machineries that produce them can be built and operated at a lower cost.
